Bike For Good Southside Hub are hosting a film screening to celebrate Roma culture, as part of the Southside Film Festival 2019.
There will be traditional food served and musical performances alongside the screening.
Black Cat, White Cat is set within a community of Roma people, it tells a story of young love, family ties and magical occurrences. This film is a riotous mix of farce, romance and crime. Beautifully filmed on the banks of the Danube and directed by Emir Kusturica (Underground), this colourful comedy is crammed with spectacle, incident and the powerful Romani music.
This film was been chosen especially to screen by the Romano Lav youth group in Govanhill, who programmed this event in conjunction with Southside Film Festival.
Please note: The BBFC have rated this film is Cert 15 for drug use and coarse language, but the venue will have a special area for children separate from the screening with child friendly activities, so people can bring their children along.
Southside Film and Romano Lav will present a Roma Film Festival in Govanhill later in 2019 so this event is a flavour of things to come!
This screening has been supported by Regional Screen Scotland through their Local Film Festival Challenge Fund.
