Young mechanic programme -14-25 year olds

The programme is an opportunity for young people to learn how to train as a bike mechanic through volunteering at Bike for Good. It consists of a structured training programme intended to provide a solid foundation in bike mechanics and prepare individuals to complete a formal accredited qualification, also provided by us. You will play a crucial role in up-cycling donated bikes through disassembly, component salvaging and rebuilding, contributing to a circular economy and saving bikes from landfill.

  • Volunteering: 8 weeks, 1 session per week
  • Training: Cytech Level 1 accredited qualification or City and Guilds Bicycle Mechanics Level 1
  • Employability: Enhanced employment prospects, training and practical qualifications

After the 8-week programme. Participants will be encouraged to continue volunteering with Bike for Good to enhance their skills and pursue additional training such as Ride Leader and Cycle Trainer qualifications.
