Everyday Cycling Heroes: Matthew

Key worker Matthew approached Bike for Good in April to take up the loan bike offer we have been providing during the pandemic.

As a staff member at a testing facility for Covid-19, Matthew needed a form of transport to rely on to get him to work, with public transport no longer seeming a safe and viable option for him.

Before the pandemic, Matthew described himself as a competent leisure cyclist, but had never considered cycle commuting before.

Using his bike during the pandemic, Matthew discovered the many benefits of cycle commuting: financial, environmental, mental, and physical.

We are now able to offer key workers the option to purchase their loan bike, at a discounted price. Matthew bought his bike, and says that he now uses it every day as his main mode of transport.
