Got the knowledge and skills to maintain your bike yourself but don’t have the tools and the parts to do so?
Fix Your Own Bike
Our ‘Fix Your Own Bike’ (FYOB) sessions are a space for do-it-yourself repairs and maintenance in Glasgow.
Book a work-stand, use our tools, buy new and used parts and get support from our mechanics and volunteers if you get stuck or need advice.
We are a registered charity, and due to an increasingly challenging funding landscape, we are now needing to charge for many of our services, whereas previously they would’ve been free.
Bike For Good is a registered charity and social enterprise that supports people to cycle as their mode of transport. In previous years we have been able to offer many of our services and activities for free thanks to external funding. However, public sector funding in Scotland has dropped significantly over recent years and for the current financial year sustainable and active travel has been badly hit by newly announced Scottish government spending cuts. We are, therefore, having to reluctantly introduce a tiered pricing structure which we hope will enable us to remain financially viable while continuing to reach as many people as we can.
Bike For Good pricing structure:
Subsidised: this is our concessionary option for people on lower incomes who may not be able to afford the standard price.
Standard: selecting this option will allow us to cover the cost of delivering sessions, including staff time, equipment and other organisational running costs.
Supporter: a slightly higher rate for those who feel they can afford it, and which will enable us to offer more free and subsidised session places to those for whom finance may be a barrier.
Free: if you would otherwise be unable to participate due to low or no income, please email: activetravel@bikeforgood.org.uk.
